I thought animal cruelty is to make animals suffer unnecessarily. Like, physical force, stress of any kind, narrow confinement, neglect etc.
So I guess I was wrong. Clickety-click:

So I threw some pig's blood on my dogs to make them look scary for a movie I was making. Now this person tells me that this is animal cruelty. I never knew! I thought, like, wolves and other predators, including raw-fed dogs, enjoy tearing their prey apart, fiesting and getting dirty in the delicious blood. I thought, it's like, natural. Hm. My dogs seemed to be enjoying themselves licking up blood and chowing down on the meat that came with it.
So that brings up the following questions:
. Is it cruel to color an animal's hair to a ridiculous/unnatural color as long as the dye doesn't cause irritation or hair loss?
. Is it cruel to dress up your animal as long as it's not getting too hot or confined?
. Is it cruel to give your animal a silly name like Hitler or Cheesekake eventhough the animal doesn't understand it anyway?
. Is it cruel to give your horse a pink harness because pink makes people laugh? Will the horse know it's being mocked or is it, maybe, a bit more cruel to sit on its back and force it to obey...? Not bashing horseback riding, just saying: if I were a horse, I'd prefer a pink harness to a bossy weight on my back.
. Is it cruel to use your animal for media-related purposes as long as the animal feels at ease and doesn't understand that humans may point and laugh?
I am pretty sure that animals don't understand human humor. I am convinced that my cat doesn't have a clue that I'm addressing her with "Oh my silly, smelly, drooling, dumb-looking pussy! Aren't you so dumb-looking!". And I am just as convinced that a carnivore pet will enjoy being thrown raw bloody meat at for a change. It's natural. My dogs don't defend pellets, they defend raw meat. Why would that be? Because they HATE the industrial shit! They rather starve themselves. Now making them eat THAT is cruel...
So anyways, being irritated already I just told this person to sit in Ignorant's Corner and have a good weep.
This isn't meant to be a bashing appeal. Just wondering, how's everyone define animal cruelty? To me, calling Moshe a shitty kitty isn't cruel as long as I don't TREAT him shitty. I've been cruel alright. But in this case, I'm in doubt.
